When you want to apply for a job after graduation, you may need to apply for a senate letter from the university as a confirmation that you meet the requirements for graduation after complying with all the university requirements.

Employers will usually ask for this letter because you have not fully graduated from university despite completing all exams and graduating.

Two important documents that are often misunderstood are the Senate and Final Study Letter.

Although both are related to the termination of student studies, there are significant differences in terms, use and production of documents.

What is a senate letter?

Senate, or better known as Senate Letter In English, this is an official document issued by the University Senate to students who have been certified to graduate and meet all the Diploma degree requirements or awards.

Senate, as the highest academic body at the university, is responsible for confirming the graduation status of each student.

This means that before the title was officially given in a meeting ceremony, the senate must meet and approve the list of graduates.

The main interest of this document lies in the official recognition of one’s graduation status.

Although this is not the title itself, this document is a strong proof that students have successfully completed their studies and have fulfilled all academic criteria.

This includes passing all the necessary courses, meets adequate credit hours, and reaching the required average value (CGPA).

For most students, the senate letter is the first document they received to confirm the status of their graduates before the actual title roll was issued.

The interests of the senate letter

There are several reasons why documents play an important role in a student’s post-graduate course:

The difference with the study letter is complete

Unlike the Senate Letter, a study letter is sometimes referred to as Solution Letter or Graduation feasibility letter) is the previous document issued by the faculty or department for students who meet the requirements for graduation based on their academic records.

This letter is usually issued shortly after the final exam results are confirmed, stating that students have completed the program.

The study letter functions as an initial notification to students that they qualify for graduation. It did not involve official confirmation by the University Senate.

Therefore, it may not have the same weight as a senate when used for more critical official purposes, such as job applications that require official confirmation from the university.

Students may need these two documents depending on their needs.

If they need to apply for a job before getting a formal degree, the document becomes a more valid document.
