Introduction to Matriculation
The KPM Matriculation Program was founded in 1998 as a pre-university program to help students continue their studies at domestic and foreign universities, especially in the science, technology and professional fields.
This program was introduced to increase opportunities for outstanding native students to continue their studies at undergraduate level.
Initially the pilot students consisted of SBP and MRSM students before the first matriculation colleges such as KMM and KML started operating in 1999.
This program continues to develop with the addition of universities, the introduction of One Year Programs (PST), Two Year Programs (PDT) and technical pathways.
Now, the KPM Matriculation Program has become one of the main pre-university pathways in Malaysia and the KPM Matriculation Certificate has been recognized in the Civil Service since 2017.
When to Register for Matriculation
Physical registration for matriculation at tertiary institutions will be held on 7 and 8 June 2026. Meanwhile, online registration will start from 13 May 2026 to 6 June 2026 through the respective official matriculation portals.

The following is a guide to online registration for the 2026/2027 KPM Matriculation Program that students need to know before registering online.

1. Prepare Important Documents & Information
Before the online registration system is opened, students need to prepare several important things first to smooth the registration process, namely:
- Fee payment slip reference number
- Student bank account number (account must be in the student’s name)
- Passport photo according to specified specifications
- Telephone number that is still active
2. Payment of fees must be made in advance
Many students are confused because they think payment is made when filling out online registration. Actually, payment of fees must be made first according to the official instructions provided.
In the online registration process, students only need to enter the payment slip reference number as payment confirmation.
3. Payment System Opening Date
The Ministry of Education and Culture Matriculation Program fee payment system for the 2026/2027 session is open starting from:
May 13, 2026 to June 6, 2026
Students are advised to make payments in advance to avoid last-minute system congestion issues.
4. Print the Student Information Slip
After successfully completing online registration, the system will generate a “Student Information Slip” containing important information such as:
- Residential block
- Room number
The slip needs to be saved or printed because it will be used on reporting day at the matriculation college later.
