If you are a farmer or breeder in Malaysia, you must know the Malaysian Agricultural Practice Certification scheme or better known as mygap. This scheme is a scheme that recognizes agriculture in Malaysia that practices good agriculture.

For those of you who don’t know about this certification scheme, we share a brief description of this scheme such as the purpose, benefits and how to register for this scheme. So, if you are interested in finding out more, make sure you read this article to the end.

What is mygap?

MyGAP, or good agricultural practice Malaysia, both Malaysian agricultural practices), is a certification scheme that was introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Habits in 2002 to recognize agriculture that practices good agricultural practices (APB).

This scheme, which is a branding of the Good Malaysian Agricultural Practice (SALM) scheme, aims to ensure the production of agricultural products produced by farmers and farmers in Malaysia is safe, quality, and environmentally friendly.

This scheme includes three main sub -actors namely plant, cattleAnd Aquacultureand implemented in accordance with the following Malaysian Standards (MS):

• MS 1784: 2005 (Crop Commodities – Good Agricultural Practice) for the plant sector.
• MS 1998: 2007 (Good aquaculture practice) and MS 2467: 2012 (Code of Practice for Seaweed Cultivation) for the aquaculture sector.
• MS 2027: 2006 (Good animal farm practice) for the livestock sector.

Goals and objectives

The main purpose of MyGAP is to improve the quality and safety of agricultural products in Malaysia while promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The objectives of this scheme include:

• Increase the number of farmers who practice APB to produce safe and high quality agricultural products.
• Preserving the environment through effective and environmentally friendly agricultural management practices.
• Ensuring the safety and welfare of agricultural workers in accordance with occupational safety and health standards.
• Increase the competitiveness of agricultural products in the domestic and international markets through quality recognition.

How to register

The following is a procedure for the Veterinary Certification Application MyGAP:

1. Applications can be created through the DVS/MYGAP No.1 online form
2. You need to prepare a good Livestock Practice Document (GAHP) according to the GAHP checklist
3. You also need to provide additional supporting documents:-
   1. Letter of support from the State DV;
   2. APC copies from agricultural veterinarians (if applicable); And
   3. Copy of License License (if applicable)
4. Animal Husbandry must print a copy of the online application form and provide complete GAHP documents and be arranged in accordance with the GAHP checklist provided and must be included in one (1) ring and marked (marking).
5. Complete GAHP documents must be submitted together with additional supporting documents to the following address:

Application criteria

Criteria for applying for mygap certification include:

• Applicant category
  • Personal
  • Private companies
  • PARTICIPANTS OF PERMANENT TAMAN FOOD PROJECT (TKPM
  • Agent/Body of the Law

  • Agriculture Center under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture
  • Modern agricultural project participants.
• Land status
  • The cultivated land must be legal (private, rent or rent).
• Farm
  • Animal husbandry must operate for at least one year or one round of production with an updated production record.
• Farm
  • Products produced are intended for domestic or export sales, such as vegetables, fruits, or animal foods (such as napier and corn corn).
• Standard compliance
  • Applicants need to pass site inspection, sample analysis (poison residues, heavy metals, microbes), and verification of agricultural practices.
• Commitment
  • Applicants need to be prepared to receive reprimands and suggestions for improvement and have a quality assurance program (QAP) to ensure safe and quality products.

Mygap Certificate Valid Period

For those of you who already have this certificate, you need to update this certificate every two years. This is because, this certificate only applies to two years from the date of approval. Renewal applications must be submitted at least six months before the end of the certificate.

You also need to know that if you have this certificate, the Department of Agriculture will conduct a 6 -month and 12 month supervision audit after approval to ensure sustainable compliance.

If there is a violation, corrective steps need to be completed within two weeks. This certificate can be withdrawn if the agriculture fails to comply with the requirements, abuse the mygap logo, or the results exceed the permitted maximum waste level.
