Indonesia Open Badminton – History & Introduction

Indonesia Open Badminton or Indonesia Open is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in the BWF world tour calendar. This tournament has been held since 1982.

For the 2025 edition, this tournament was officially known as the Indonesian Open 2025 Fire Ship and maintains the super 1000 status which is a protest worldwide. With the participation of elite players around the world, competition in this tournament is very fierce.

This tournament is not only a platform to get a world ranking, but this is an important platform to test performance ahead of large tournaments such as world championships and the Olympics.

Open Indonesia 2025 took place at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, from 3 to 8 Jun 2025.

The total number of prizes is achieved USD 1,450,000 Equivalent to RM 6,800,000 (six million eight hundred thousand Malaysian ringgit).

The Malaysian Team is appropriate to the Final Final & Final

One of the main focus of Indonesia Open 2025 is the achievement of Malaysian troops. This year, the Malaysian Badminton Team did a proud performance, especially in that category Male doubles, female doubles and even mixed doubles.

In the men’s double-finals, Malaysian couple Tee Kai Wun and Man Wei Chong made a surprise when they defeated India, Satwiksiraj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty with 21-19, 21-16.

Malaysian female doubles couple, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, managed to reach the final of the Indonesia Open 2025 after defeating China, Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min, in a fierce semifinals with 12-21, 21-17, 21-11.

This is a historic achievement for Pearly-Thinaah because this is their first time in the final of the Super 1000 tournament like Indonesia Open.

In the last match scheduled for June 8, 2025, they will face the winner of Chinese couple Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning and South Korean couple Baek Ha Na-Lee-Lee So Hee.

Not only that, the two doubles of Malaysia’s doubles advanced to the quarter -finals.

Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai made it to the quarter -finals after recording victory over Thailand Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran in the quarter -finals and before defeating the host in the 16th round.

The couple Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei also Mara went to the final term by killing opponents from India and Denmark on his way to the best Lapan.

However, they did not triumphed Mara to the final after being killed in the final half of the Thai couple, Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Supissara Paewsampran.

The latest results from Indonesia Open Badminton 2025 sees representatives from several major countries moving to the final in each category.

Malaysia made history when a female doubles partner, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, advanced to the final, so that it became the only state representative on the championship stage.

South Korea also sent representatives to the final, especially in the only category of women through young.

Meanwhile, Indonesia dominates the men’s doubles category with at least one pair to the final, maintaining their tradition of strength in their own court. Thailand managed to place representatives in the mixed doubles.
