List of Toll Plazas Involved & How to Use Them


The open or toll-free toll payment system in Malaysia using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology is now being used as a pilot project before being used nationally.

Implementation of this system is a step towards creating Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) to ensure smooth traffic flow, as well as making it easier for users.

What is ANPR?

ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) is a capable smart camera system detect, read and record vehicle number plates automatically.

This technology is used in many countries for road enforcement, automated parking, and electronic toll collection.

In Malaysia, ANPR will be the core of this system toll road without barriersa road industry innovation that will change the way we pay tolls.

ANPR technology uses high-resolution cameras that automatically identify vehicle plate numbers, which are then matched to the physical image of the vehicle using artificial intelligence (AI).

What is MLFF?

MLFF (Multi Path Free Flow) is an electronic toll collection system without bars and without stoppingwhere vehicles do not need to slow down or stop on the toll lane.

Payment is made automatically using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology This means that there are no more toll plazas that cause traffic jams on the highway.

When will tollless tolls be used in Malaysia?

The non-toll/open toll toll payment system with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology supported by an integrated digital platform, will be implemented in stages on the North-South (PLUS) Toll Road starting October 2025.

According to the Minister of Public Works, the Government is focusing on its implementation MLFF completely in the next two yearswith ANPR as the technical basis of the system.

Where Will Zero Crossing Tolls Be Implemented?

As a pilot project, this project involves the Kampung Forest route to Sungai Dua in Penang.

This system will be tested at 9 toll plazas, namely:

  • Village Forest
  • North Alor Setar
  • South Alor Setar
  • Penang
  • Desert
  • North Farmer River
  • South Farmer River
  • Bertram
  • Two Rivers

How is Payment Made?

No need for a physical card or additional tools – just register the vehicle plate number in the app Just goand keep driving. Toll payments are made automatically via your debit/credit card or e-wallet registered in this application.

How to use it is as follows:

  1. Download the JustGO Malaysia app
  2. Register the vehicle
  3. Enter payment method
  4. After that, drive as usual (no additional equipment required)

Through an integrated digital platform, users can pass through any toll lane without stopping with a choice of several digital payment modes, transaction review and e-invoice display.

Registration can be done online free of charge.

This open toll payment system is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Public Works (KKR), the Highways Authority of Malaysia (LLM) and the highway concession company.

Do Motorcyclists Have to Pay Tolls?

No. The Highways Authority of Malaysia (LLM) confirmed there is no change in the category of vehicles subject to tollsincluding motorcyclists.

This statement refutes claims that motorbikes will be subject to a toll starting in October circulating on social media. LLM described the information as false and misleading. LLM urges the public to refer to official sources and not spread false information.

What is the difference between RFID now and MLFF?

Current RFID still requires a toll bar, MLFF does not have a direct bar.

When will Malaysia use barrier-free tolls?

PLUS Malaysia Berhad will trial this ANPR system at 13 toll plazas and 35 lanes of the Hutan Kampung – Sungai Dua route starting October 2025.

How does ANPR work on toll free?

This ANPR technology allows vehicle number plates to be identified automatically using a high-resolution camera, and toll payments to be made digitally via an application connected to a debit/credit card or e-wallet.
