Introduction of Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR 2026)

Rahmah Tunai Contribution (STR) is one of the Malaysian government’s initiatives to help ease the burden of living costs on low and middle income communities throughout the country.

Through STR, financial assistance in cash is distributed to families and individuals in need, especially those facing economic difficulties, to help them meet their daily needs.

In presentation 2026 BudgetThe government has announced an increase in the STR allocation and Basic Mercy Contribution (SARA) to RM15 billioncompared to RM13 billion in 2025.

This higher allocation is the result of savings obtained through targeting subsidies such as diesel and RON95 fuel. This effort aims to ensure that aid can be distributed more widely and effectively in easing the burden on the community.

The main points related to STR in the 2026 APBN include:

• That much 9 million STR recipients will continue to enjoy the benefits of this assistance, with additional SARA up to RM100 per month or RM1,200 per year.
• Beneficiaries registered in the e-Kasih system will receive higher SARA assistance, up to RM200 per month.
• Households that earn less than RM2,500 per month and have five children can receive maximum assistance of up to RM4,600 per year through a combination of STR and SARA.
• STR phase 4 worth RM2 billion will be paid early in time for Deepavali 2025, as a sign of recognition of the festival’s cost burden.

According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this initiative shows the MADANI Government’s commitment to continuing to maintain the welfare of the community despite facing global economic challenges.

With the increasingly intensive allocation and assistance plans in the 2026 APBN, it is hoped that STR will continue to be an important bulwark in reducing financial pressure and improving the quality of life for people in need.

Who Needs to Create a New Application/Update STR 2026?

Many people wonder whether it is necessary to update if THERE IS NO CHANGE in the information compared to before.

Applicants need to create new application STR is as follows:

1. Applicants who do not have a record in the STR system; nor
2. With a household income of RM5,000 and below; or
3. With an income of RM2,500 and below for individuals who are single/without a partner/without children who meet the eligibility requirements.

Applicants need to create update app STR is as follows:

1. Not updating the app three years in a row.
2. STR recipients who have information on recent changes such as being married, having more children, or changes in household income.
3. Applicants who wish to add or change bank account information, mailing addresses, telephone numbers of the applicant and their spouse, as well as heir information are also encouraged to update to ensure smooth aid payments.
4. For those who have passed the STR application but there is a change in marital status, such as divorce or the death of a partner, you can update their information after the update date opens.
5. Individuals who apply for an STR and have not registered a bank account at the time of initial application can also add this information when updating the application.

How to Update STR

1. Visit the official STR LHDNM portal and log in to your MySTR account using your registered user ID (MyKad No.) and password.

2. After successfully logging in, click the “Update Application” menu to update basic information such as home telephone number, cellphone number, mailing address, email address, spouse’s telephone number, applicant’s or spouse’s bank account information, and heir information. 3. If you don’t yet have a MySTR account, registration can be done on the portal according to the guidelines provided.

Apart from online updates, applicants can also submit updates by sending the STR application update form to the nearest IRB Office or Urban Transformation Center (UTC).

Make sure all the information provided is accurate and up to date so that aid can be processed and credited smoothly to your bank account.

STR Update Period

The 2026 STR update period starts on October 13 2025 and is open throughout the year.

Applicants can renew manually by sending the renewal form to the nearest IRBM office, Satellite Office, or Urban Transformation Center (UTC).

Users are advised to always monitor the official STR portal in the official announcement media for the latest update period information so as not to miss this important date.

STEP 4 STR Payment (2025)

Payment of Rahmah Cash Donations (STR) Phase 4 of 2025 is planned to be distributed early on October 18 2025, in conjunction with Deepavali celebrations.

This Phase 4 payment is the final payment in 2025 and is worth around RM2 billion. Payment status can be checked via the official STR portal at alattunai.hasil.gov.my.

How to Check STR Status

1. You can check the status of your application online via the STR Portal at the following link:
2. Click on the “MySTR Login” menu.
3. Enter your 12 digit Identity Card (MyKad) number and press the Login button.
4. If your STR application has been registered, application information will be displayed.
5. Click the “Review Application” menu to view the application approval status and cash assistance payment status.
6. In the “Payment Information” section, you can see the payment amount and payment credit status for each stage of STR assistance.
7. If you have not registered a MySTR account, registration can be done on the same portal by following the instructions provided.

STR payments will be immediately credited to the bank account registered at the time of application. If you do not have a bank account, payment can be claimed in cash at any Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branch.

Forgot STR Password & New Update

MySTR Login requires a registered Mykad Number and Password.

If you forget your password and fail to answer the security questions (3 attempts are given), your MySTR ID will be blocked and you will be allowed to try again after 24 hours.

STR & SARA Pay 2026

The following is the latest information on payments for Rahmah Cash Contributions (STR) and Principal Rahmah Contributions (SARA) for 2026:

1. The government has allocated a total of RM15 billion for STR and SARA by 2026 in an effort to reduce the cost of living for Malaysians.
2. All STR recipients will receive monthly SARA assistance of RM100 which amounts to RM1,200 per year.
3. Beneficiaries registered in the e-Kasih system are entitled to receive higher SARA assistance, up to RM200 per month or RM2,400 per year.
4. For singles, SARA assistance is provided in the amount of RM600 per year or the equivalent of RM50 per month.
5. The maximum amount of assistance that a household earning below RM2,500 per month with five children can receive is RM4,600 per year which includes STR of RM2,200 and SARA of RM2,400.
6. STR Phase 4 payments for 2025, which is the final phase before 2026, will be disbursed early on October 18 2025 along with the Deepavali celebrations. This involves payment of between RM100 to RM700 according to the recipient category.
7. The 2026 STR and SARA payments are expected to start being disbursed in early 2026, after the 2026 APBN is officially approved and the official date is announced by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDNM).
8. All STR payments will be immediately credited to the recipient’s registered bank account. For recipients who do not have a bank account, cash payments can be claimed at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches.
9. The government emphasizes that this assistance is the result of savings on subsidies such as diesel and RON95 fuel and aims to strengthen community welfare, especially low-income groups.
