Pendang Science Academy strengthens excellence through the Intelligent Smart Education Program (PPPC) which focuses on developing highly capable students.
Its effectiveness was proven when SPM 2025 recorded a GPS of 0.91, with 33 out of 55 candidates achieving grades 9A and above and the highest achievement was 10A+.

Introduction to the Penang Science Academy
Pendang Science Academy (ASP) or previously known as Pendang Science Middle School is the first school under the Ministry of Education and Culture to accommodate intelligent and talented students in Malaysia and is fully managed by the Boarding School Management Division (BPSBP).
This school is located on Jalan Jenun Pendang, Kedah and officially operated on April 18 2021 with a total of 88 students. This school’s learning model refers completely to the learning model established at Kolej Genius @ Pintar UKM.
One of the main objectives of establishing the Pendang Science Academy is to make the Smart Smart Education Program (PPPC) a success, which is one of the initiatives in the Malaysian Education Development Plan (PPPM) 2013 – 2025 to develop the potential of selected students in general.
Even though they are in the young age range of 12 and 13 years, these children have studied the syllabus for Form 4 and 5 students in general.
Apart from core and elective subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Mathematics, students at ASP also study other subjects such as Research, Philosophy, Personal Development, Introduction to Psychology and also International Languages namely Mandarin and German.
Now, the talents and potential of 298 ASP children continue to be polished and honed with the combined energy and synergy of 48 educators who are always committed to fulfilling the mandate and responsibilities they have been given.

Student Culture of Inquiry & Innovation
Research culture is a key pillar at ASP when students are encouraged to explore new ideas and produce high-impact innovations.
That much 17 research entries at national and international levels have been recorded, whereas 22 international scientific publications successfully produced.
The scientific studies carried out also cover complex fields such as ozone modeling and data analysis, thereby forming students who are competent in the world of research.
Excellence in SPM 2025
In the SPM 2025 exam, ASP recorded excellent results with GPS 0.91. That much 55 candidates involved, including 16 and 17 year old students. Of this amount, 33 candidates obtained results of 9A and abovewith the highest achievements 10A+.
Subject achievement also shows excellence, especially in Mathematics, English and Science, thus proving the effectiveness of the PPC approach in improving students’ overall academic achievement.
Pendang Kedah Science High School was selected to implement the first cohort of the Malaysian Ministry of Education’s Smart Education Program (PPPC) in collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia involving a total of 88 selected students.
The Smart Smart Education Program (PPPC) is an effort by the Ministry of Education and Culture to develop smart and intelligent students who have a brain level of intelligence (Intelligence Intelligence, IQ) with a score exceeding 130 is optimal, especially in STEM fields.
