MySTEP 2026 – Graduation Salary Increased to RM2300


The Malaysian Short Term Employment Program (MySTEP) 2026 brought good news for graduates when the salary of postgraduate graduates was increased to RM2,300 per month. Check out these 2026 MySTEP Guidelines.

The new rates are not only more competitive, but also include EPF and SOCSO contributions, making MySTEP a more attractive short-term employment option in the public sector.

PSD – MySTEP Circular 2026

The government agreed to continue implementing this initiative Malaysia Short Term Employment Program (MySTEP) for 2026. This initiative focuses on graduates and job seekers, including Persons with Disabilities (OKU) and the elderly, to provide short-term employment opportunities and experience in the public sector.

Procurement of MySTEP Personnel services must be carried out in accordance with the regulations and procedures specified in MySTEP Personnel Services Procurement Guidelines which will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

In line with the enactment of these Guidelines, the implementation of the Human Resources Services Circular (MyPPSM) for Divorce UP.1.4.1 Policies and Procedures for Accepting Part-Time Daily Employees and Divorce UP.1.4.2 Notification Regarding Decreased Authority to Approve Payment of Overtime Allowances and Working Wages on Weekly Holidays and Public Holidays is postponed.

Thus letter JPA.(S).600-3/3/2 Vol. 2 (37) dated 20 December 2024 along with related guidelines and attachments are canceled.

Graduation salary increased by RM2300

The government has set new wage levels for Malaysian Short Term Employment Program (MySTEP) personnel for 2026, including a salary increase for Bachelor graduates to RM2,300 per month.

Based on Table 1: Monthly Wage Rates for MySTEP Personnel, these pay rates include EPF and SOCSO contributions and are determined according to academic qualifications as follows:

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree: RM2,300 a month
  • Equivalent to diploma/STPM: RM2,100 a month
  • Equivalent to SPM: RM1,900 a month
  • There is no Malaysian Education Certificate (SPM).: RM1,700 a month

Salaries will be paid every month at the end of the month, based on the achievement of task output determined by the Head of Department.

If MySTEP Personnel fail to achieve output targets, wages cannot be paid or deducted according to the rate or formula specified in the contract.

However, Department Heads can consider not taking salary cuts if failure to achieve targets is caused by factors beyond their control such as natural disasters, pandemics, or system failures.

The scope of duties of MySTEP Personnel is determined according to the needs of the Ministry or Department and may include, but is not limited to:

– Social services such as care for the elderly, children or disabled people; And

Yes. MySTEP personnel can be instructed to carry out official duties outside the office in accordance with the assigned scope of duties.

12. What benefits are eligible to be claimed while serving outside the office?

Among the benefits and payments you are entitled to claim are:

– Meal allowances;
– Daily allowance;
– Payment of hotel rental or lodging allowance;
– Vehicle travel allowance;
– Public transport fares; And
– Other shopping such as tolls and parking,

subject to the rates and conditions set out in the relevant Malaysian Treasury Circular.

Yes. MySTEP personnel are entitled to use official air travel facilities for domestic travel, in accordance with Malaysian Treasury Circular Letter WP 2.5.

Yes. Office equipment and facilities are provided based on existing facilities without involving additional provisions.

15. When does MySTEP Personnel service end?

Services end automatically when the contract term expires, and the Department Head does not need to issue a termination notice.

16. Can the contract be terminated early by the Head of Department?

Yes. The Department Head may terminate the contract early if MySTEP Personnel fails to fulfill contractual obligations with written notification:

7 days for contracts of less than 6 months; or
14 days for contracts exceeding 6 months.

17. Can MySTEP Personnel terminate their contract early?

Yes. MySTEP personnel may terminate the contract early with the same written notice namely:
