Opening an Islamic Bank account is now even easier with the BIMB Mobile application which allows users to register directly from their smartphone without having to queue at the counter.
Through this application, users can choose accounts such as Qard Savings Account-i (deposit RM100) or Basic Savings Account-i (deposit RM20), making it fast, easy and user-friendly.
What is an Islamic Bank Account?
The Islamic Bank Account is a banking product offered by Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB), which is a pioneer of the Islamic banking system in Malaysia. Established as the first financial institution based on sharia principles, Bank Islam plays an important role in developing and encouraging the growth of the country’s sharia financial industry.
As a pioneer, Islamic Bank provides various types of accounts such as savings, current accounts, investment accounts and deposit accounts, all of which operate based on concepts such as Wadiah (trust savings), Mudharabah (profit sharing) and Qard (interest-free loans).
Currently, Islamic Bank continues to develop with the vision of meeting the financial needs of the community in a sustainable and ethical manner, while still being guided by sharia rules and principles.

Eligibility Conditions for Opening an Islamic Bank Account
The following are the qualifications for opening a Sharia Bank account:
- Individuals aged at least 12 years and over to open an Islamic Bank Basic Savings Account and Qard Savings Account.
- Individuals who are at least 18 years old and above to open an Al-Awfar Investment Account.
Types of Islamic Bank Accounts
Via app BIMB MobileUsers can choose the type of account that suits their needs. The options offered include:
- Qard-i Savings Account with a minimum deposit RM100
- Basic Savings Account-i with a minimum deposit RM20

Terms & Guidelines for Opening a BIMB Mobile Account
- Users must have MyKad.
- Make sure the process is carried out in a bright room and has sufficient lighting to make it easier to validate the face.
- Initial deposit must be made via Online Banking Wallet using a Malaysian bank account in the user’s own name.
- For users who do not have a Malaysian bank account, account opening must be done manually at the nearest Bank Islam branch.
- Existing customers will receive an i-Debit Card by post to their registered address.
- New customers need to take the Debit-i Card at the branch chosen during the account opening process.
How to Open a Sharia Bank Account Via BIMB Mobile
Here are easy steps to open an Islamic Bank account using the BIMB Mobile application without having to go to a branch or fill out a manual form. Just use your smartphone and follow the guide below:
Step 1:
Press the option “I don’t have an Islamic Bank account” on the main screen of the BIMB Mobile application.
Step 2:
Enter your MyKad number and mobile number. Make sure the number entered is active to receive confirmation.
Step 3:
Select the type of Islamic Bank account you want to open. Options include Qard-i Savings Account And Basic Savings Account-i according to your needs.
Step 4:
Scan your MyKad (front and back), then take a selfie for identity verification purposes.
Step 5:
Easily make initial deposits from any bank account using the same name as your MyKad.
(Note: If the name does not match, the money will be refunded within three business days.)

Your account is now active and ready to use on BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web. You can start carrying out transactions, checking balances and other banking matters digitally.
How to Login to BIMB Mobile
If you’re changing your phone or using a new device, here are the easy steps Login to BIMB Mobile reset and link your account safely:
- Step 1: Install the BIMB Mobile App
Download the BIMB Mobile app from Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS). Make sure you download from official sources for the security of your account. - Step 2: Login Using Your Account Details
Once the application is installed, open the application and enter the username and password to start the login process. - Step 3: Verify Access From Old Device
To confirm, BIMB Mobile will send a notification to your old device.
Press “Approve” on the old device to allow login on the new device.- If you do not have access to your old device, please visit your nearest Bank Islam branch for identity verification.
- Step 4: Complete the Login Process
Once approved, your new device will be fully linked to your BIMB Mobile account. You can now start using the app as usual for all banking matters.

BIMB Application FAQs
As a new customer, you need to register for BIMB Web and BIMB Mobile. The GO by Bank Islam app is no longer available for download in any app store, and new users cannot register for Bank Islam Internet Banking.
Users of Bank Islam Internet Banking and GO by Bank Islam will not be automatically transferred to BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web. These two existing platforms can still be used until the end of 2025.
Switching from Bank Islam Internet Banking and GO by Bank Islam to BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web is free of charge. This is a free upgrade to improve your banking experience.
Yes, you can continue to use it. However, at the end of 2025, your access to the platform will end. We highly recommend you to switch to BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web as soon as possible to enjoy a better banking experience.
Once you switch to BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web, you cannot return to Bank Islam Internet Banking or the GO by Bank Islam application.
If you do not switch before the end of 2025, your access to Bank Islam Internet Banking and GO by Bank Islam will end, and you will have to use BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web to manage your banking services.

No cooling off period applies. However, if you are still in the waiting period for your previous Bank Islam or GO by Bank Islam Internet Banking account, this period will still apply.
Yes, all previously saved Favorite accounts will automatically be available on BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web. No need to reset.
The following services and features will not be carried over from Bank Islam Internet Banking and GO by Bank Islam when you switch to BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web:
– Scheduled (Future Date) and Recurring payments will be stopped.
– Users need to reset it in BIMB Mobile or BIMB Web.
– Transaction history from the old platform will not be displayed on BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web.
– The GO by Bank Islam application cannot scan QR codes generated by BIMB Mobile, however BIMB Mobile can scan QR codes from the GO by Bank Islam application.
– Transaction limits need to be reset on BIMB Mobile and BIMB Web.
