Malaysia needs to gather an important victory against the UAE before facing Bangladesh on Monday, September 22, 2025, followed by the most difficult test against the World No.5 ranking team, Iran on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

This qualifying format only views 8 group champions and 7 best group champions who will step into the final round with the host of Indonesia.

The prestigious action will take place in Jakarta next January, promising a great battle for the most prestigious futsal degree in Asia.

History of the Futsal Asian Cup 2026

The AFC futsal championship, better known as the Futsal Asian Cup, is the most prestigious tournament in the Asian continent for the Futsal National Team.

Since it was introduced 21 years ago, the tournament has been organized 15 times. Initially, the competition was held every year, but now it is dual-dim with the 16 best Asian teams to compete for the most valuable futsal trophy in the region.

Throughout its history, Iran emerged as an Asian futsal force with an extraordinary record of winning the trophy 12 times. Japan is the only other country that won the tournament with 3 wins.

Although Iran and Japan often dominate, tournaments are never boring. With the rapid development of futsal sports in various Asian countries, surprises are always possible. In fact, the competition is expected to be more intense because more and more teams are starting to match the two main powers of tradition.

Format of Futsal Asian Cup Resistance 2026

1. Feasibility Stage

• A total of 45 Asian countries participated in qualifying competitions.
• This team was elected in the group (A to H), with several countries to host each group.
• 8 group champions and 7 best group champions will qualify for the final.
• They will be with Indonesia as the host of 2026 edition.

2. Final ranking (finals)

• The final pissing will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia in January 2026.
• 16 teams will be divided into 4 groups (A – D).
• Each group contains 4 teams and uses the round-robin format (all teams meet once).

3. Feasibility system to the KO level

• The two best teams of each group advanced to the quarter -finals.
• The format onwards is losing dead (knockout stage):
  • Final syllable → half final → Determination of third place → Final.

4. The importance of the tournament

• In addition to winning the Asian title, this tournament also functions as an official qualification stage for the FIFA 2026 FIFA World Cup.
• The best Asian team will automatically represent the continent to the world stage.
