Date, intention & advantage of fasting Muharam 2025

Muharram is the first month in Islam and is one of the months that we encourage us to fast.

Every year from the month of Muharram, of course Muslims will remember 10 Muharram with various practices and worship.

Among the good practices that are highly recommended for Muslims during the month of Muharram is to increase the circumcision of fasting.

This can be seen based on the history of Abu Hurairah RA, he said that the messenger of God (may peace on it) say:

Meaning: Fasting Seafdhal-Afdhal After the month of Ramadan fasting in the month of Allah al-Muharram and indeed the most important prayer after the obligatory prayer is a night prayer (qiyamullail)-History of Abu David (2429)

Among the good practices that are highly recommended for Muslims during the month of Muharram is to increase the circumcision of fasting.

The meaning of illegal months in Islam & the benefits of the month of muharam

The month of Muharram is one of the illegal months in Islam.

The month of Muharram brings the meaning of ‘forbidden Moon’ among Arabs, and is considered sacred in their calendar.

During that month, Arabs were prohibited from warning any war, murder, and roughness.

Meaning: Indeed, the number of months besides (the law) of God is twelve months, (determined) in the book of God when He created heaven and earth, including four months of respect. Such decree is a direct religion, so don’t treat yourself in those respected months (violating the prohibition) and fighting people who do not believe when they fight against you and know that God is with those who are afraid.

Advantages from the month of muharram

The number of people with God, for ten days of God, the same as the day of God religion is valid, so don’t oppress themselves

Meaning: “Indeed the number of months besides (the law) of God is twelve months, (determined) in the book of God when He created heaven and earth, including four months of respect.
(Surah at-Taubah: 36)

The best of fasting, after Ramadan, the month of God is prohibited, and the best prayer, after illness, prayer that night

From Abu Hurairah Ra, God’s messenger (may peace over him) said: “Fasting is most important after Ramadan fasting in the month of God, Muharram. While the most important prayer after the obligatory prayer is night prayer.”
(Muslim History Hadith, 1163)

Fasting Muharram Fasting

Among the fasting that can be done during the month of Muharram is the fun fasting on the 10th of Muharram.

Although we were encouraged to fast in 10 Muharram, we were also ordered to follow him by fasting the day before or the next day.

This is intended to coordinate Jews who only fast in 10 Muharrams.

This is based on the history of Ibn Abbas R.Anhuma He said that the Prophet said:

Be happy on the day ‘fun and fun with Jewish people. Satisfying the day before or the day after. – History of Ahmad (2154)

Some scholars say that the way to fast ‘Ashura has three conditions as follows:

• Fasting the day before or the day afterwards.
• Fasting on it (10 Muharram) alone.
• Fasting a day and after that.

While the best and most complete way to do this is the order of Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jauziyyah in his book Zaad Al-Ma’ad (2/72) in the following ways:

• Fasting the day before and also the next day.
• Fasting at 9 and 10 Muharram only.
• Fasting only in 10 Muharram.

For 2025, the Date of Asyur & Hari Tasu’a is as follows:

• Tasu’a Fasting: 9 Muharram = July 5, 2025 (Saturday)
• Asyura Fasting: 10 Muharam = July 6, 2025 (Sunday)
• Fasting 11 muharam = July 7, 2025 (Monday)
• White Day 13,14,15 Muharam = 9,10,11 July 2025 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday)

Note: It is said to fast in 9 Muharam or in 11 Muharam together with the fasting day ‘Ashura with the aim of disturbing and different from Jews. However, there was no problem of fasting on the 10th of Muharam, and the prize remained.

Tasu’a Fasting (9 Muharam)

This is the intention of the intention of fasting for the circumcision of tasu’a:

I mean to fast the sunnah of God Almighty

Damihe Sauma Tawnata Lablahaka’ana

“Only I fast for that day tomorrow because of Allah Ta’ala”

Ashura Fasting (10 Muharam)

I mean ashura fasting for God Almighty

Nawaitu Sauma ‘Asyura Sunnata Lillahita’ala

Meaning: “Only I fast for tomorrow’s days because of Allah Ta’ala”
