Contribution Cup – JDT vs. Selangor FC [LIVE] August 8, 2025

The Malaysian League rival (League M) season 2025-2026 will open the curtains on Rasmi on August 8, 2025 Through the contribution trophy match which found two giant clubs, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Selangor FC. Direct / direct streaming broadcasts will start at 21:00

The prestigious match will take place at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium and is also considered to be the opening of the Super League this season.

This was announced by the Malaysia Football League (MFL) which also announced that the new Super League season will last for around 10 months, which is May 16, 2026.

This period is shorter than last season which passed the transition phase of 14 months.

History of the contribution of the trophy

This trophy was first introduced in the 1985 Malaysian League season, although the match was held on December 31, 1984.

The 1984 Malaysian Cup champion (Selangor) fought with Pahang, the 1984 League Cup runner (Selangor also the League ’84 champion).

So that the 1992 season, the Malaysian Cup champion (PM) will meet with the champions/naib champions of the Malaysian League.

The format has been exchanged in the 1993 season, where the PM champion will fight over the contribution trophy with the FA Cup champion as well (or Naib FA champion, if the PM winner is also the FA champion).

Starting the 2011 Malaysian League season, the format used to date has been introduced.

MFL has announced that 13 clubs have confirmed their participation in the new season of the Malaysian League 2025-2026 which will begin on August 8.

Resistance format

League Complete Schedule M 2025-2026

MFL also released the full calendar of League M 2025-2026, which detailed the schedule for the main tournament as follows:

• Four four: Starting August 1525, Final on December 14, 2025
• Malaysian Cup: Starting January 17, 2026, Final on May 23, 2026
• MFL challenge trophy: Starting February 6, 2026, Final Two -Game on 4 & 18 April 2026

However, MFL explained that the possibility of schedule amendments can still occur due to several important factors involving tournaments and international clubs.

MFL stated that M League’s complete schedule could not be released before because of the AFC championship voting session, including the Elite Asian Champions League (ACLE) and ACL2 scheduled for August 15, which involved JDT and Selangor FC participation.

In addition, the two clubs will also compete in the title of ASEAN club, where only the official schedule announced by AFF.

This has made MFL to calculate all this compatibility to ensure the smooth running of domestic rivals.

Date & Schedule of the 2025 Contribution Cup

The opening match of the 2025 Malaysian League, the contribution trophy, is scheduled to take place on August 8, 2025, finding 11 Super League champions in a row Johor Darul Takzim and the 2024 Super League runner-up, Selangor FA.

As enshrined in the Malaysian League law, the right to regulate the contribution trophy must still be given to the Super League champions, and this means that JDT will be the 10th year in a row.
