Mufti Department Recommends Avoiding Premature Speculation on 1 Shawwal 1447H
The Selangor State Mufti Department appealed to the public not to speculate in advance regarding the determination of the date 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijrah.
This clarification was made following confusion over the possibility of Eid Al-Fitr falling on Friday compared to expectations in the annual calendar which stated it would be Saturday.
The statement also explains that the official determination of 1 Shawwal is subject to the process of rukyah hilal on the evening of 29 Ramadan as well as a declaration by the authorities. Discrepancies between calendar expectations and official results are also commonplace in the system of determining the start of Islamic months.
Apart from that, factors such as the position of the crescent moon and weather conditions can also influence the appearance of the new moon during observation.
Therefore, the public is advised to remain calm and focus on carrying out their worship, especially in the last 10 days of Ramadan while waiting for the official announcement from the Keeper of the Grand Seal of the Kings to confirm the exact date for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

MEDIA STATEMENT : SETTING OF EID UL-FITR DATE IN MALAYSIA
Thank God, Lord of the worlds. Shalawat and greetings may be poured out on the most noble prophets and apostles. And on his family and all his friends. As for afterwards,
The Selangor State Mufti Department is aware that the Sharjah Academy of Astronomical Sciences, Space and Technology (SAASST), which is an institution in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) which carries out space research and astronomical observations, as well as several other Arab countries, have announced the estimated date that 1 Shawwal 1447H will fall on Friday 20 March 2026. This department also knows that the start of the 1st Ramadan fast for Arab countries is Wednesday 18 February 2026. This means that Muslims in the relevant Arab countries will fast Ramadan for 30 days.
The start of fasting for Muslims in Arab countries this year is different from the start of fasting in Malaysia including Selangor because of the date. 1 Ramadan is set for Thursday 19 February 2026. In this case, Malaysia applies these criteria al-ru’yah position (visibility) of the hilal (crescent moon) in determining the beginning of Islamic months, including the months of Ramadan and Shawwal, through the process of observing the hilal (crescent moon) which is carried out on the 29th of the month of Sha’ban or Ramadan, depending on the circumstances. This is based on a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah RA that the Prophet SAW said:
Fast to see it and break your fast to see it
It means: You fast because you see it (the new month of Ramadan), and you break your fast because you see it (the new month of Shawwal). (Narrated by al-Bukhari)
Criteria imkan ar-ru’yah determines that the crescent moon (moon) is considered visible when the following conditions are met:
I. The height of the moon is not less than 3 degrees at sunset, and ii. The sun-moon curve distance (elongation) is not less than 6.4 degrees.
In this regard, the official sighting of the new moon of Shawwal (new moon) to determine Eid al-Fitr in Malaysia this year will be held on 29 Ramadhan 1447H coincides with Thursday 19 March 2026. After receiving insightful reports from the Chairmen of the Moon Watching Committees in each state and with the approval of the Malaysian Ruling Council, the Custodian of the Great Ruler’s Seal will announce the date of Hari Raya Idul Fitri that evening.
It should be understood that the start of the Islamic month depends on the appearance of the crescent moon and data on the position of the moon on the date of the appearance in a country. Every country has one the power of ‘ru’yah are different and determining the start of the Islamic month in a country does not depend on the results of the appearance of the crescent moon or data on the position of the moon in other countries.
Therefore, Muslims in the State of Selangor are advised to remain calm and focus on fasting, especially in the last ten days of Ramadan. Let us all respect the sighting of the new moon for Shawwal and look forward to the declaration of Eid al-Fitr by the Keeper of the Great Seal of Kings on 29 Ramadhan 1447H coincides with Thursday 19 March 2026.
So much needs to be informed. Jazakumullah khairan.

Further Information & FAQ about Hari Raya Celebrations in Malaysia
Hari Raya Aidilfitri or Hari Raya Puasa is the biggest festival celebrated by Muslims in Malaysia.
Decorations can also be seen in homes, shops, shopping complexes and along roads since the month of Ramadan.
In several other countries, Hari Raya Aidil Adha is more celebrated and lively than Hari Raya Puasa.
This festival is celebrated to celebrate ‘victory’ after a month of fasting in the month of Ramadan.
Determining the date of Hari Raya Aidilfitri also follows the ‘seeing the moon’ / rukyah method as in determining the month of Ramadan.
Raya Eve (which is the last day to break the fast) is a festive night where relatives have started to gather and arrive in their respective hometowns.
On Hari Raya, Muslims forgive each other and visit to strengthen friendship.
Children are also among the happiest because they will get ‘celebration money’ after shaking hands with family members, relatives and adults.
As an expression of gratitude, zakat fitrah is something that must be done before or on Shawwal 1 when Aidilfitri Day is celebrated.
Open houses are also often held at homes, offices, companies, etc. Various dishes are usually served such as ketupat, rendang, lemang, kuih muih and traditional sweets such as wajik and dodol which are symbolic dishes on Hari Raya.
National holidays are given in 2 days for all states, namely March 21 and 22 2026 (First & Second Holidays). Melaka declared a state public holiday on March 23 (Third Holiday). Meanwhile in Johor it is also closed on the Third Holiday which coincides with the Birthday of the Sultan of Johor.
Generally, the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday is given for 2 days for all states in Malaysia, except for Melaka which has a third day due to the country’s national holiday.
10 is already 11 days.
The 2026 Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday dates for KPM Group A and B schools are as follows:
GROUP A : 19-28 March 2026 (10 days)
GROUP B : 19-29 March 2026 (11 days)
Additional holidays are days granted besides starting from national holidays and regular school holidays, especially to make it easier for students and teachers to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families.
All state schools and government-aided schools follow the academic calendar issued by the Ministry of Environment. This additional holiday is given to all schools in the state that fall into group A or B.
If the actual date of Eid al-Fitr celebrations changes, the Ministry of Environment can make additional announcements or changes to the academic calendar. Therefore, parents and students are advised to always check Ministry of Education official website for the latest information.
We at eCentral wish you a Happy Eid, we apologize physically and mentally.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
