Introduction to Rahmah Foundation 2026 Donations, SARA 2026

Donasi Asas Rahmah (SARA) is a government aid initiative aimed at reducing the cost of living for low-income Malaysians.

This is non-cash assistance that is distributed directly to recipients’ MyKad, so they can purchase basic necessities at select stores across the country without having to physically receive cash.

Starting in 2025, SARA distribution will be carried out through the MyKasih program which makes it easier for recipients to buy daily necessities such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, flour, vegetables, chicken, fish and many more.

This assistance can be used at more than 4,100 MyKasih partner stores throughout Malaysia including large supermarkets such as Giant, Mydin, and HeroMarket, as well as local grocery stores such as the Pak Mat store just down the road.

In total, SARA recipients can buy 90,000 types of goods in 14 main categories, including bread, milk, disposable diapers, bath soap, medicines such as Panadol, stationery and various other household necessities.

SARA Assistance 2026 Disposable for all

In presenting the 2026 Budget, the Prime Minister announced good news for all Malaysians. The Welas Asih Foundation (SARA) Contribution Appreciation of RM100 will be given to all Malaysians aged 18 years and over regardless of STR recipient status.

This means that all adults have the right to receive this assistance, not just the B40 group.

This RM100 payment will be distributed once only in mid-February 2026 as a form of government appreciation for the people who continue to support the country’s economic recovery efforts.

Different from cash assistance in general, SARA is given in the form of non-cash assistance which is filled directly into the recipient’s MyKad.

This credit can be used to buy basic necessities at shops registered in the MyKasih program nationally including large supermarkets such as Mydin, Giant, HeroMarket, as well as local grocery stores.

Items that can be purchased include rice, cooking oil, eggs, wheat flour, vegetables, chicken, fish, milk, disposable diapers, bath soap, bread and basic medicines such as Panadol — covering 90,000 types of goods from 14 main categories.

2026 SARA Assistance Levels

For 2026, the government will maintain its commitment to help the community through restructuring SARA tariffs with payments that are more targeted and fair according to recipient categories.

1. Cash Donation Recipient (STR) Rahmah
All STR recipients will receive RM100 a month in the form of SARA credit in the amount per year RM1,200.

2. The Hardy Poor (e-Kasih)
Recipients are listed under the database e-Kasih worthy of receiving RM200 a monthor RM2,400 a yearthrough the help of SARA. This is an improvement RM1,200 a year compared to the previous year.

3. Single Individual (does not receive STR)
For single individuals who are no longer eligible to receive STR, they will RM50 a month in the form of SARA, equal RM600 a year.

4. Low Income Households (RM2,500 and below)
Households by income not exceed RM2,500 a month as well as having five or more children can receive the maximum amount of total assistance RM4,600 a yearthe combined results of STR and SARA.

5. Emas Bujang Citizens (60 years and over)
STR rates for single seniors who earn less than RM5,000 per month maintained at RM600 a yearwhile their SARA assistance was increased from RM450 to RM600 a year.

6. Single under 60 years old
For this group, STR will be replaced with SARA is worth RM600 a year (RM50 a month).

7. SARA Award Assistance (One-Off)
All Malaysians are elderly 18 years and overincluding non-ST recipients, will receive RM100 one time only as a special award for SARA 2026.

SARA Payment Date 2026

The 2026 SARA payment date for STR and e-Kasih recipients has not yet been announced, and will be updated from time to time via the official portal.

However, a special payment of RM100 one time SARA Appreciation will be given to all Malaysians aged 18 years and above on mid-February 2026.

How to Check SARA 2026

You can check your eligibility for SARA 2026 in two ways, namely:

  3. Click “Check Status” to see eligibility, remaining assistance, and list of registered stores

How to Use SARA 2026

The following are simple steps for using the 2026 Mercy Foundation (SARA) Donation assistance which is credited to the recipient’s MyKad:

1. Select Required Items

Select the staple goods you want to buy based on 14 SARA-approved categories, such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, flour, bread, canned food, drinks, personal care products, school supplies, medicines, spices, biscuits, instant noodles, and household cleaning supplies. Make sure the item has a SARA label on the price tag shelf.

2. Show MyKad at the Counter

At payment, hand over your MyKad to the cashier to confirm SARA recipient status.

3. Scan the Item Code

The cashier will scan each item you choose to ensure it falls into the category of items allowed in the SARA program.

4. Pay Using MyKad

After all items have been scanned, payment is made using MyKad, the purchase amount will be automatically deducted from the available SARA credit.

5. Save the Purchase Receipt

Make sure you save the receipt for review or reference for future purchase transactions.

10. Is it necessary to pay more if the purchase exceeds the SARA balance?

Yes, excess purchases must be paid by the user in cash or other methods.
