SSR 2025 – Format & Winner of Super Schools Rugby 2025

SSR or Super Schools Rugby is a very prestigious rugby rugby event in Malaysia. The tournament event, which has been held since 2013, involved the Rugby team from large schools.

What is Super Schools Rugby (SSR)?

Super Schools Rugby or SSR is a school rugby tournament for the 18 -year -old category that is very prestigious in Malaysia. This tournament shows the best teams from schools throughout the country.

The tournament, which began in 2013, aims to improve the status of rugby sports among school students and thus become a platform to identify young talents that have the potential to represent the national team and senior team.

To your knowledge, SSR is divided into two divisions, with the first division for the school level and the second division for the academy level. In 2025, 24 teams will join the first division and 12 teams joined the second division. Create 36 contest teams this year.

Resistance format

SSR 2025 is held in the 15-side rugby format which refers to the rugby game format which is played with two teams each consisting of 15 players on the field. This is a general format at the school and club level.

Here are some of the main features of the Rugby 15 -SIDED format that distinguishes it from other rugby formats:

• Number of players: 15 team players on the field.
• Number of Savings Players: Usually there are 7-10 savings players, making the total number of players in the team 22-25.
• Game time: The game time is usually divided into two, each 40 minutes, with a break in between.
• Objective: The main goal is to score more points than the opposing team in the specified time period.

For the first SSR 2025 from the first division, 24 competing teams will be divided into six groups, with each group containing four teams, followed by the KO round until the last winner has been crowned.

For the second division, 12 competing teams will be divided into three groups, and as the first division followed by the KO round until the last winner has been crowned.

The group share is usually held in their respective teams in February and March, which involves various locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Ulu Yam, Kuala Kangsar, Ipoh, and Alor Setar.

For the 2025 edition, the first SSR Devvision involved 24 teams, including five new teams invited based on current performance, rugby traditions, and alumni support. Among the teams involved this year are:

SSR 2025 winner

In the 10th edition of the SSR which took place on 27 Julai 2025, BPCOUGAR troops representing Mrsm back island History as the first Mara Science College (MRSM) to win the tournament.

They beat the team Victoria Institution (VI) In the final thrilling in Kuala Lumpur. This victory marks a great success for MRSM behind the island, which has shown significant performance since their participation in the tournament.

Chairman of Mara, Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has announced that a vacation is given to all MRSM students on July 28, 2025 along with the victory of the BP Cougar Team at SSR 2025

As for the second division for the SSR Academy level, Pahang Malaysia Sports School (SSMP) represented by the SSMP Falcon team has won the tournament to be defeated Tunku Ismail Tunku Sports School (SSTMI)
